I joined the Alliance of Virtual Libraries in January of 2008 after reading Lori Bell's article regarding her efforts on Info Island. My first assignments consisted of helping at the Reference desk. This helped me become more familiar with the types of information that is needed by SL visitors and residents. I continued to help on Info Island exhibits and special events. I have been the AVL Volunteer Coordinator for over a year. I am responsible for the recruitment of volunteers and match volunteer talents/experience to the available AVL openings.
I am also an SL Mentor and help out new residents when they arrive on SL. I have recently joined RezLibris as their bookkeeper and hope to be able to contribute my editorial and writing skills in the near future. |
