I am an up-and-coming Librarian and joined Second Life for a class. The course material proved to be invaluable as we covered everything from learning and teaching in SL to building and scripting. The class ended but I continue to be in-world because I love the interaction I have with librarians and those in the field of librarianship.
As a child and throughout my teen years, I read voraciously. I frequented libraries almost on a weekly basis and would check out as many books as I could. I don’t have time to read everything I’d like to now but I do make time to indulge in a good book or two with my cats by my side. You may see me in SL with a white cat (named B) on my shoulder. B loves SL libraries and librarians as much as I do!
Being a part of the RezLibris staff is an exciting opportunity for me. The educational aspect of Second Life is what drew me in and what keeps me a part of SL. When I’m asked to describe SL to those unfamiliar with it, I tell them about the great community of librarians that exist in SL and how we rally together to find ways to reach and teach. The RezLibris magazine is already my go to spot to point out SL event highlights to those curious about SL. It’s my hopes that it will serve such a purpose for others too. |
