Information: I am a retired academic librarian with an MLS and a Ph.D. While I spent most of my career in academic libraries and as director of two research university libraries, I moved to a different part of the country seven years ago, became involved with my local library, which is privately funded, and for the past five years have been director of this tiny two-room, cozy library.

The early years of my life were spent in England. We moved to the USA when I was about eight, and I became thoroughly American. I came from an academic family, and moved easily into academia, working at the Harvard College Library when I graduated from college. That was in the 1960s, and I quickly became a member of the new Data Processing Department, which we now tend to call Systems Offices or something similar. So I have been involved with information technology in libraries for a good many years, and it seems as though it’s not stopping readily.

I joined Second Life in 2007, thinking that I was joining a game. I didn’t become active until late in 2008, and at that time I realized that SL was far from a game. I found the librarians and the library resources quickly and now serve at the reference desk, help out with the Sci-Fi portal, and most importantly, have become Assistant News Editor of RezLibris. For me, RezLibris has the potential to affect and inform librarians and library lovers both within Second Life and in real life as well. It is a wonderful communication and archival mechanism, and I am proud to be affiliated with it.
