Besides my current roles as the Arts Editor and Ad Manager for RezLibris Magazine, much of my work in-world revolves around the continued development of the University of Kentucky Island. This work directly relates to my real life position with the University of Kentucky Libraries, with whom I have been employed since 2000. I have a B.A. in History with a Minor in English, as well as an M.S.L.S. , all from the above mentioned University. The creative elements of SL have also inspired a colleague and I to begin a general SL help blog (www.sim-patico.blogspot.com) to feature some of the new things we learn and encounter in-world. My real life interest in the areas of writing and the arts is long and complex having included past roles of library newsletter staff, reporter, columnist, artist, and former owner of a folk art business.
I was first introduced to Second Life about two years ago via a demonstration at our library and was immediately intrigued by the creative and collaborative elements available to librarians and historians. My actual foray into this new world began in February of ‘08 with my involvement increasing steadily alongside the creativity discovered throughout the grid. I am very excited about the position RezLibris is poised to occupy: the place of serving as a conduit for the ever increasing library, educational and artistic collaboration taking place within the grid. |
