I have a Masters of Library Science and a bachelor's degree in English and work as a reference librarian at a public library on Long Island, New York.
I joined Second Life in March 2007 after learning about the Alliance Library System and Info Island. Shortly after joining, I applied to the Metaverse Messenger (M2) newspaper as a staff writer because I have done quite a bit of writing in real life including working as a features editor on my college newspaper, editing my library school newsletter, and publishing some magazine articles in addition to a short story for a mystery anthology. My first novel, Cloudy Rainbow, featuring a virtual world was published in December, 2008.
I have been writing for the M2 for almost two years and have also created a pet memorial on Cybrary City II, Rainbow Gardens Pet Memorial Center, with the help of Rocky Vallejo, Cindy Elkhart, BrianA. Corleone and volunteers Katfancy Kiergarten, Panama Marama, and Miraanda Singh. I have met and made friends with many kind and professional people here, in particular Lorelei Junot and Abbey Zenith. RezLibris and I personally owe so much to these ladies for their support.
When I heard about a new library magazine that Clark Abismo was starting, I was excited to get involved. My vision for RezLibris is for it to be a publication that promotes librarianship in Second Life, facilitates news among the varous individual libraries throughout the Information Archipelago and beyond, and serves as a venue for attracting real life libraries and librarians to Second Life. |
