The creative team (staff and board) of the former Frank Lloyd Wright Virtual Museum (FLWVM) will be meeting after the first of the year to discuss and decide upon a new direction. We have non-profit status, 6 months (possibly 12) of pre-paid non-profit tier, and an incredibly talented and inventive group who have been waiting for the opportunity to create. We can promise that anything built on the sim in the future will meet or exceed the quality of our former project. We will continue producing high-quality architectural models and are looking at some interesting possibilities. We may also create a space for the display of some of the best SL art. Some interesteng thoughts we are tossing around include: the history of architecture, with a changing display possibly starting with Rome and working forward, illustrating the way people live and why in certain eras. Another possibility: contacting living international architects in their creative prime and working with them in displaying and interpreting their works. All things are open for discussion and consideration. We are not only a display space, we are an educational institution and as such will be open and available for tours for educators and their students as soon as possible. The subject of architecture - how do humans construct space to live and work and play in? - is a fascinating one and open for unending exploration. How do we decorate those spaces? Each of these questions produces so many possibilities for discussion and display. Count on Virtual Museums Inc. (VMI) to be there for and with our visitors and supporters, showing the kind of visual quality we know SL can be at its best.
In the meantime, as a gift to all in Second Life, the museum sim has been turned into a playground, a Winter Wonderland, with sledding, lots of room for ice skating, Santa Claus, a chorus line of snowpeople wishing you Happy Holidays, and pleasant places to chat or dance around a fire. Our dance club The Edge will be open for your dancing enjoyment on New Year's Eve, Dec. 31. Please join us!
